Cindy Smith
Cindy Smith has been with Girl Scouts of Western Ohio for seven years serving in the Program Department and the Community Engagement Department. Prior to coming to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio she served as an Elementary Education Teacher and a Director of Religious Education. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Miami University and a Master's Degree in Theology from Xavier University. She and her husband of 35 years have 2 grown children and a granddaughter. Her hobbies include reading, traveling, and event planning.
Diane Gulas
Diane Gulas has been an active Girl Scout co-leader of a troop of Senior girls from Incarnation Parish in Centerville, Ohio since they were in second grade. When they were in third grade, she helped them complete the Family of God program. She then led them through the process of earning their Marian Medal. She is also very active in her parish. She ran the MOMS Enrichment Program for a couple of years, is currently on Parish Council and has volunteered countless hours for the school and parish in the following ways for many years: library volunteer, cafeteria and recess volunteer, Christmas Kindness, and Vacation Bible School to name a few. She has also been participating in Bible Study in the parish for the past five years to learn more about the Catholic faith.
She is a part-time pharmacist and the mother of a fourteen year old son, Joey, and a sixteen year old daughter, Christine. She is blessed to be the wife of her loving husband, Chuck.
She is excited to be on The Archdiocese Girl Scout Catholic Committee to help evangelize the Catholic faith to as many Girl Scouts as possible through these Religious Awards.
Barbara Bonifas
Barbara retired as the CEO of Girl Scouts of Western Ohio after 40 years of service to the organization in five Girl Scout Councils. Her experience ranges from managing finance and fund development to girl program events and adult learning. Her thorough knowledge of governance and process orientation has been a benefit to the Movement. Barbara is currently serving on the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Catholic committee on Girl Scouting. She is Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, and Mass Coordinator for St. Margaret of York Catholic Church. In 2013 she received the Extraordinary Woman of Faith-Archdioceses of Cincinnati. A life time member of Girl Scouting Barbara earned the Curved Bar, and Marion Medal. She holds a BA in Social Welfare from The Ohio State University.
Nicole Fredrick
Nicole Fredrick has been a Troop Leader for over 13 years to all 3 of her daughter's troops from Cardinal Pacelli School in Mt. Lookout, OH. With her co-leaders, Nicole has led all of her troops (over 50 young women) trough the Mary the First Disciple program. She is a member of Our Lord Christ the King Parish in Mt. Lookout, and over the years, Nicole was very involved in her parish serving on the Bereavement Committee, being a Eucharistic Minister, coordinating the Sunday Childcare, and teaching preschool Sunday School.
When not doing Girl Scout activities or substitute teaching for the Archdiocese, Nicole enjoys being involved in the community. She servers as the treasurer for a non-profit, The Friends of Winton Hills Academy, was a PTO Board treasurer for many years for Cardinal Pacelli, and volunteers with Cincinnati United Soccer Club as a TA among many things. Nicole is mother to Miami University freshman, Lillian; Saint Ursula Academy sophomore, Alexandra; and Cardinal Pacelli 8th grader, Elizabeth. She is married to her wonderful husband, Mike, and just recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Nicole is honored to serve on the Committee for Catholic Girl Scouting, and excited to share her knowledge and experience for the wonderful Marian Medal program to future candidates!
Lydia Denslow Shenk
Lydia has been a Girl Scout Leader for the past eleven years and has enjoyed every minute of it. She currently has a Senior Troop at Alter High School and a Cadette Troop at Incarnation Catholic School while also serving as the Treasurer for the GSWO Centerville Service Unit. As a Troop Leader, she has enjoyed sharing her faith with many Scouts by facilitating the Family of God and I Live My Faith Programs. Lydia has been married to her wonderful husband, Matt, for seventeen years and is the proud mother of Lauren, fifteen, and Sophia, twelve.She earned her MBA from the University of Dayton and is an Assistant Vice President of Finance at Synchrony Financial.
